A short while ago, I met a church member at a coffee house to sit and chit chat. I see her every Sunday and we’re Facebook “friends” but had never had a real conversation. So, I invited her to “coffee.” And, by “coffee” I mean vanilla bean cream frapps. I’m asking the usual questions What do you do? What do you do for fun? Where are you from? when out of the blue she asks So, what’s your salvation story? Huh? What? Um…
It reminded me of Alexandra Frazen’s 100 Questions to Inspire Rapid Self-Discovery & Understanding. People are so much more than their occupation, relationship status, and the town they grew up in. And, if we asked these questions around the table, I think we’d all get to know, really know, each other a little bit better.
So, I’m going to post & answer one or more questions per week. Answer the question for yourself in the comments. Or, you could type your answer as a blog post. Just be sure to link-up with me so we can all read your answer.
So, are you ready to learn more about me than you ever wanted to know?!! This should be fun!
Have you ever fantasized about changing your first name? To what?
No, but I have been naming my future kids for as long as I can remember. I was really big into unisex names and boy names for girls. Like naming my daughter Avery or Drew or my son Reese.
When was the last time you astonished yourself?
Woman, Live! astonishes me everyday!
But, more specifically, a few weeks ago I was looking for speaking gigs. I called a women’s empowerment center and submitted my speaking sheet. One of the founders invited me to lunch. OMG!! I met with her and she said YES to everything! Here I was hoping to just get my pinky toe in the door. By the end of that meeting, my whole leg was in there! When she went to the restroom, I texted my friend, “Holy crap!!” I currently facilitate a course on how to realize your dream to a group of women who want to start their own microenterprise. The other day, a woman had NO idea what she wanted to do. We brainstormed everything from selling kitchen items to babysitting to becoming a makeup artist. Nothing. By the end of our session, I took everything she said especially the things she thought weren’t important and we came up with a lucrative business idea. She couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it. I was vacillating between “This is what I do!” and, “Oh, my gosh! I get to do this for the rest of my life?!!!” I was astonished. Wow, God! Just….WOW.
Your turn to answer in the comments!
With an astonishing amount of love for you, my faithful reader…
