100 Questions to Inspire Rapid Self-Discovery & Understanding: Q&A #5 & #6

A short while ago, I met a church member at a coffee house to sit and chit chat. I see her every Sunday and we’re Facebook “friends” but had never had a real conversation. So, I invited her to “coffee.” And, by “coffee” I mean vanilla bean cream fraps. I’m asking the usual questions What do you do? What do you do for fun? Where are you from? when out of the blue she asks So, what’s your salvation story? Huh? What? Um…

It reminded me of Alexandra Frazen’s 100 Questions to Inspire Rapid Self-Discovery & Understanding. People are so much more than their occupation, relationship status, and the town they grew up in. And, if we asked these questions around the table, I think we’d all get to know, really know, each other a little bit better.

So, I’m going to post & answer one or more questions per week. Answer the question for yourself in the comments. Or, you could type your answer as a blog post. Just be sure to link-up with me so we can all read your answer.

So, are you ready to learn more about me than you ever wanted to know?!! This should be fun!

Question #5

What’s going to be carved on your (hypothetical) tombstone?

Brandi Wilson Hawthorne

Didn’t look a day over 30

I really don’t care what’s on my tombstone. But, I did LIVE well and to the ripe old age of 100. Still driving, too! Who cares what my tombstone says! My life will speak for itself.

Question #6

What are you FREAKISHLY good at?

Sometimes when I talk to people I interrupt the conversations and say, “You look like your mom/dad, don’t you?” It’s a 50/50 guess, but I’m usually right! 🙂

I’m also very good at balancing, but I was a server so….does that count?

I asked my husband and he said, “Aggravating me.” *squinting my eyes at all the lies*

I think I’m good at “calling a thing a thing”.  Raw truth is necessary as long as it comes from a good place. I call people on their stuff because often times it is the first time anyone has done so. I believe that clarity is a gift and I want to sharpen it so that it helps me to be a dynamite women’s life coach!

I can’t wait to read your answers!

  1. What will be on my tombstone? She loved with her all. Gives me something to strive for. Loving unconditionally like Jesus.
What am I freakishly good at? Embarassing myself. Seriously. Probably others don’t think it is to bad, but I do!

    • I love that, Rebekah!

I’m in the boat with you on “embarrassing myself.” <—Embarrassing looks misspelled, but my spellcheck says otherwise. Hmmm… Anyway, practice makes perfect so let's keep being social until we're awesome at it! 🙂

  2. Brandi,

You are really making me think tonight! I didn’t wanna think!! **mini tandrum**

    What would my tombstone say??

You know, it’s funny you ask. I will probably be the first to say, I don’t care what my tombstone says, I don’t care where I am buried, I don’t care how you bury me, I don’t even care if you do. Why you ask? I will be in Heaven and I will not see it or experience it. I know that sounds silly, but use that money on something else. If I am not here, don’t waste it on me. I can’t stand to see people rob Peter and Paul just to have this big huge lavish service…..WHY? Give them their flowers while they are living is always my motto.

What am I freakishly good at??
I am able to make a conversation with anybody. I find joy in talking to others! Even on the internet! The sad thing is I don’t have many friends. Maybe 1-2 at the most. Thats sad isn’t it!?!? LOL

    • Sometimes it doesn’t work for out so well for me, either. BUT, I always feel better having said the hard truth than the flattering lie. It’s really all about intention. When I say the truth maliciously, I always kick myself for it. But, when I say because I want the best for someone and they needed to hear it, I don’t lose any sleep at night. And, usually they come back and say thanks!
