My husband hired a personal trainer for me 3 months before our wedding. I usually met with her every Friday at 7 AM, but this particular week she was unavailable. She presented two options to me. I could come twice the following week or I could come earlier on Friday morning. 5 AM earlier! I didn’t want to miss my weekly training session with her so I chose to go in at 5 AM. I drug myself out of bed and into the gym when I saw a class was in session. The parking lot is empty at 7 AM when I usually go so to see so many people at the gym 2 hours earlier threw me for a loop. Giving my personal trainer the stank face, I said, “Who works out at 5 AM?” She looked at me for a second and said, “You do.” My mouth opened to say something, but I didn’t have a comeback. I chose to come to the gym at 5 AM so that I wouldn’t miss my weekly training session. I was dedicated to my new fitness goal. I was the crazy person who worked out at 5 AM. Me. The woman who wouldn’t get up at 5 AM if her house was on fire. I had changed and didn’t even realize it.
If someone said, “Girl, I can’t see myself getting up at 5 AM to workout!” I would have quickly blurted out, “Me, neither!!” But, that wasn’t the truth. Not anymore. And, it took someone pointing that out for me to even recognize it.
Think about who you were 2-3 years ago, your daily habits, who you hung around, the things you did, the things you didn’t do. Compare that with who you are right now, your daily habits, who you hang around, the things you do and don’t do.
How have you changed?

One day I’ll have to tell you the story about the time I did what crazy people do and moved overseas to Guam. : )
With Love,
I guess I would have to say that if youasked me 2-3 years ago if I would give up pop and only drink water, I would say you were crazy lol

Oh geeze, so much of stuff I said I would NEVER do are things I ended up doing. lol. I learned to quit saying “Oh i would never…” because it was pretty much a guarantee that I’d do it. 😉

Haha! Me, too! I’ve learned (especially since living on Guam) that we think we know, but we have no idea!

I haven’t had any soda in over 2 years-almost 3. I guess I did drink a Pepsi Throwback a couple of months ago, and it was so sweet I almost couldn’t stand it.
If you were to have told me that I would be homeschooling my kids 3 years ago, I would have laughed out loud. But sure enough, all four are here every day doing just that.

You know, it’s funny how we think we know (the future) and honestly we have no idea. One thing can change our perspective and there we are doing things we thought/said we’d never do. Sometimes I just say “as far as I know, anyway” which means I think this today but don’t hold me to it tomorrow. It keeps me from eating my words! (Congrats on the no-soda thing! That’s so hard to do for us carbonation lovers!)

I’d love to hear why you live in Guam! And I would have said the same thing! 5am? no way!

I probably said I’d never move back to Kansas, ha! The heart – and the Lord – move in mysterious ways. I also never thought I’d be someone who WANTS to go to church every week, week after week, and not only that get more and more involved. That didn’t used to be me. Now I live my life in a different way 🙂

Praise God, Stephanie! 🙂 I’ve never been to Kansas, but I hope to step foot in every state. I always say that church is like the gym. You dread going and when you’re there you feel so good you wonder what took you so long! God bless!

Yes, truly, praise God! Kansas has a quiet uniqueness to it. Most people don’t see it when they drive through or, like me, don’t appreciate it when they’re young. But it has a beauty that is deep and that you have to look for. Yes, my spiritual muscles miss church if I don’t get there!

I’ll keep that in mind when we visit…one day! In the meantime, you should post pics!

If you told me 2-3 years ago going to them gym WOULDN”T be the most important thing in my life I would have laughed. Now, a fully recovered exercise addict, I go when it suits me and to feel stronger not skinnier!

I’m trying to be a gym rat, Laura! Haha. But, I’m so glad that you’ve changed for the better. I’m curious to know what took the place of the gym. What’s the most important thing in your life now?

There is nothing wrong with being a gym rat, Brandi! As long as you don’t become obsessed. The most important thing in my life now is my faith and my business, Done with Dieting. I work with women to overcome obsessive thinking about food and exercise. I found my purpose thanks to my struggles. Oh, and congratulations on your wedding!

Laura, your business sounds really cool and definitely needed! Maybe if a person can quit obsessing and just focus on true health, it will help them!
