Woman, Live!

{Sharing is Caring} The Call to Become Yourself: Led to See Purpose (& Give Away!!!)

{Post 3 of 11}

I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service,

~Ephesians 4:1

We’re reading Lead Me, Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian in my women’s Bible study. The day after God revealed my God-Sized dream to me, I cracked open my book to our next chapter: Led to See Purpose. I think I giggled all day long at God’s perfect timing.

I’d like to share a few key points with you:

  • You were designed with a purpose in mind.

For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]

~Romans 11:29

Sometimes our life’s experiences can make us think that we aren’t worth very much, don’t have anything to offer, aren’t capable of being loved, and can’t be used by God. Or, maybe you’ve never really thought of the idea that God has a plan for your life. Stormie reminds us that “our arrival may have surprised our parents, but it didn’t surprise God. He had a plan for our lives when we were conceived and we have a purpose.” And, once God calls us, there’s nothing we can do that will retract that calling.

  • God will reveal His plan for you.

He will put a dream in your heart that you can only accomplish with His strength. (See Post 4: God-Sized Dreams.) “When you have given your life to the Lord and surrendered to the leading of God’s Spirit in you, one of the things the Holy Spirit will reveal is what God has purposed for your life. The discovery and fulfillment of your purpose happens only as you seek God and follow the specific directions of His Spirit. Day by day, little by little, God will reveal it.” But, remember, “the only way we can move successfully into our future is by walking step-by-step with God today, following the leading of the Holy Spirit in whatever we are doing now.”

  • How will I know for certain?

If you ask God, He will send confirmation through his word, the voice of others, and/or a sign. (See Post 5: Confirmation) But, you must know that “without the leading of the Holy Spirit, you don’t know for certain if you are exactly where you’re supposed to be”. We will never fulfill God’s purpose for us by living and doing things our way.

  • Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

  • ~Romans 1:28

“Too much of the world in your life can dilute your understand of who God is and what He has planned for you.” This is why we need God’s Holy Spirit “directing your steps toward the fulfillment of the very reason you are here —to be with Him, to serve Him, and to fulfill your purpose.”

Also, He will give you a peace about it.

  •  You have help.

When God calls you, He will equip you. (Read the story of Gideon.) God has placed gifts within you that will help you fulfill your purpose (1 Cor. 12:7). “The way to recognize your gifts is to ask God to show you what they are.”

You can also take an online spiritual gifts assessment as a starting point to help you discover your gifts.

In addition to the gifts, Jesus also left His Holy Spirit to be a friend, counselor and guide. But, He won’t force himself on us. He will only lead us as we invite Him to.

Tomorrow, we’ll be talking about God-Sized Dreams. But, before we do…
